      Reviews?
I got a message from a friend that went to the Portland showing and she said that it was "No-Def and in MONO". She was not impressed. Perhaps it was a venue issue?
      Ira?

Reviews? High Def? Mono? Wrong questions for a half brain dead guy ;-)
Before the show started as I gazed at the previews on screen I asked Dr Dan and Dr Stu a photographer friend of mine how high def worked and how it would come out as high def on such a normal, gravelly looking theater movie screen and they said it was projector dependent. All I can say is that the quality was really good but nearly as impressive as things I have seen on my son Shawn's HDTV at all.

Here is what some other's wrote on Phantasy Tour followed by what I wrote (with a minor Hotel Window modification.)

        tinyurl.com/2kzdm4

" I just walked in, didn't see anyone looking at IDs nor taking tix and didn't ask any questions either; ended up with 2 miracle tix.
What I am kind of remembering being shown was Sometimes a River,Desert Dawn,Rivertrance,It Is What It Is ,Big Shoes,Desert Dawn, How Mountain Girls Can Love,Best Feeling, Restless Wind,Piece of Mine, Looking Glass,Rain,Rhythm of the Road,Bumpin' Reel,Shine,Good Time Round the Bend and probably more (or less.) 3.33 hours of fun and bliss. Darn good photography and HD is awesome of course.Theater was surprisingly not sold out. A few crowd shots but not very many. Lots of shots of Spiral and very few of Laura and Lauren. No slide show during Looking Glass :-( Being with friends and family made it great; waiting for it to come out on DVD, if it does, would be fine too or wait till someone videos it from the theater ala Seinfeld."

I got an email from a friend in Seattle, WhAiRnT, letting me know that I got a bunch of hoots when my picture showed up on screen at the Seattle showing. It kind of reminded me of all the family that I saw in one of those other SCI movies particularly some guy known as P. WoHoooooooo!

Some of you have seen this no doubt.

          Hello Friends,

I have been approaching the final SCI Red Rocks shows with a slow savour,
putting off experiencing them, really, like the last chocolates in the
last box ever made of your favorite candy, like last kisses from your
beloved before you say goodbye and sail away from Middle Earth forever.

Which is a fancy way of saying that I chose not to go to the final shows,
and only listened to Thursday nights show at first, then waited months to
listen to the other nights, and still only in low-fidelity form with half
attention, and then finally got Saturday night’s show SBD a couple weeks
ago and totally absorbed it over and over…

…and tonight let myself get blasted with the brilliantly produced Virtual
Venue movie of SCI from Saturday and Sunday nights. (And bought the SBDs
for Friday and Sunday nights, yes, I’ll be eating those last chocolates
          now…)

The vibe of the big-screen, loud-sound, high-res, live crowd show was fun- loving and happy. The Nectar Lounge (Seattle, WA) was mostly full, with
plenty of good FOC representing. After a few songs, we were warmed up
enough to dance, and a few of us danced hard. There was plenty of
cheering after songs, and I even forgot for one moment that the band on
the screen couldn’t hear us (right after a Jason solo, incidentally).

Here’s the songs that made it into the movie:

          From Saturday night Set I:
Dudley's Kitchen, Sometimes a River, Close Your Eyes > Bam! > Close Your
          Eyes, Betray the Dark,

From Saturday night Set II: Desert Dawn > Rivertrance, It Is What It Is,
          Big Shoes > Desert Dawn,

Encore: The Bridge (tiny excerpt) > How Mountain Girls Can Love

          From Sunday’s show Set II:
Best Feeling > Fuel for the Road (both with Keller), Piece of Mine,
Looking Glass, Rain, Rhythm of the Road > Bumpin' Reel > Shine,

From Sunday encores: Good Time Round the Bend, curtain call.

I’m happy to report the movie is excellently edited, tons of great shots,
with some nice cuts right on the beat, lots of close-ups, nice segments
for musicians to study their moves (good shots of Kyle’s hands, of Kang’s
fretboard), and some great smiles and of course Travis’ grimaces. I also
got to notice details impossible to see from the audience: Kyle has big
quartz crystal chunks inside his Hammond organ, in a row above the keys,
Keith wore a country-style shirt on Sunday night with embroidery of ganja
leaves, Billy doesn’t shave his beard where it grows up toward his eyes (I
envy his time-saving efficiency of hairiness). In addition to tons of
band shots, there were a few shots of the entire stage, and the wonderful
video eye, some crowd shots with nice cameos by FOC (especially Sarah and
Ryan, and a nice one of Ira and Linda, Moondog a couple of times, plus
many more of course). Michael Horne, the producer was at the screening
tonight, and is preparing a B-roll with more crowd shots that will be
played at some of the upcoming screenings that include Kang and Pangea.

There was also nice footage of the Peak performers: the fan dancers
during Desert Dawn, the Hulahoopers (two different nights), including
          Billy’s daughter I believe, the light-up Jellyfish, some stilt-walkers.
Also, the laser show looked great. During close shots of the individual
performers, the lasers cut across the screen like a Star Wars movie, it
was very amusing. They had a little footage of the slide-show of FOC
during Looking Glass, including Kim and Mike Lyons, which was great for
Kim, because she had her eyes closed during the actual experience, so got
          to finally see that moment.

Oh, and some fabulous shots of Kyle from behind stage, with audience
members lit up beyond him, just a great angle, and feeling of being there,
and seeing so many happy people.

It’s a late Sunday night and I’ve got a big week coming up. But it’s all
in perspective now. No matter how tired I am tomorrow morning, I’m going
to wear my happy cheese-bliss grin.

          See you sooner, I hope!

          Cheers,

            Great review!

I went to the show at the Catalyst last night with Monica, Dave, FG3 and a bunch of the usual suspects here in Santa Cruz that I would expect to be out getting their freek on. Great to see BradMan dancing without a radio hanging from his belt. It was the closest I could imagine to being at a show so close you could see the threads on Keith's shirt. Stellar video quality! Danced for 3 hours just as hard as I did at the shows. Great fun that I really needed.

The Jinji set was great. Very nice groove tightly played. A couple of SCI tunes, San Jose and Just One Story and a couple I recognized from Pangea. I would like a recoding of this music, so if anyone has a line on that...

A bunch of us rocked out the movie at The Fox in Boulder and I have to say it was awesome. I don't know if they are going to extend the virtual tour, but if the movie is coming to your town check it out!!! We danced our hearts out and even flaired it up w/ our best recycled costumes from the 4 night run. HAVE FUN!!!!!
