Well this is a bit cheeky of me because it's not my slide-show.

The link was pasted on our local jam-band board some time ago, so I'm assuming it's fair game.

Last year's SCI campout at Horning's. The photographer, Sarah, has focused on the crowd, and especially the Saturday night costumes. She's a great photographer. I think the crew is from Whistler. I think the photographer is in a few of the pics (well painted). I wish I knew these folks. I sorta recognize them from gigs in Vancouver. There are a lot of pics in here, so speed on in to the Saturday night costumes, if you wish, (you will miss the baby pics).

Free Music Downloads at GabyVmusic.com

Hey Friends,

I just created a site called GabyVmusic.com. This was an idea a friend of mine had to help give me a little spark with the music creating process. The idea is to have one new song posted on my site each week. The spark has really worked and I am already on week number 4, which means I have already uploaded 4 new songs.
Each song posted is totally original and unique to the going's on in my life for that week. I have vowed to follow through with the weekly creation for one full year, so that means at the end of the year I will have a total of 52 new, original songs. Anyone can go on the site (GabyVmusic.com) to listen to and download songs.
People who subscribe to the blog (that's you!! :>) and/or email list can get the song emailed to them immediately when the new song is posted each week.
I am really trying to run with this thing. I am asking for feedback from anyone and everyone on the GabyVMusic.com site. Subscribers can give their own recommendation on themes for upcoming week's songs and also post responses and critiques to songs already posted.
So, if you get a minute, check out GabyVmusic.com and listen to the Songs of the Week!
Much love to you all.
Gabriel Velazquez
ACTIVITIES:

ALPINE SLIDE
Winter Park's ALPINE SLIDE is the longest in Colorado. With over 3,000 feet long, the heart-pounding track winds its way down the mountain. An epic ride to have on the festival site!

CHAIRLIFT RIDES
The Winter Park Resort ski lift will be open during the festival. Let The Zephyr Express chairlift whisk you from the Village at Winter Park up to an elevation of 10,700 feet. This ride offers spectacular views of the Continental Divide and the Fraser Valley. And at the top, The Lodge at Sunspot offers fantastic mountaintop dining including lunch and snacks.

OUTDOOR CLIMBING WALL
Come test your climbing skills on the outdoor climbing wall. Located between the Leaps and Bounds Bungee and the Alpine Slide, this activity delivers challenge, excitement, and adventure to your Winter Park Resort experience.

HUMAN MAZE
Located at the base of the resort, this maze twists and turns in every direction. Finding four check points and racing against the clock adds an extra dimension of challenge to the frequently re-configured labyrinth.

LEAPS & BOUNDS BUNGEE
The Leaps & Bounds Bungee features four individual trampolines linked by one center tower. Flips and twists are easy to perform on these trampolines with the help of the bungee cord

MINI GOLF
Mountainside Mini Golf at the base of Winter Park has eighteen holes, each depicting historic aspects of the Fraser Valley.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Winter Park offers some of the most spectacular riding in the western U.S. Whether you're a novice or an expert downhiller, there are plenty of trails for you to experience. With over 600 miles of trails throughout the Winter Park and Fraser areas, it's no wonder Winter Park has been dubbed Mountain Bike Capital USA.

HUMAN GYROSCOPE
Have you ever floated in space? The GyroXtreme is similar to the equipment designed by NASA for astronaut training, and used by many air forces to train their fighter pilots. More importantly, it offers plenty of fun for kids of all ages, and should not be missed.

Great news for Bob Horning!!!

Judge rules Horning's doesn't need permits
by The Oregonian
Tuesday January 29, 2008, 10:10 AM

A Washington County judge has sided with owners of Horning's Hideout, saying they should not have to apply for mass-gathering permits to hold events at their private park.

In a court filing dated Jan. 17, Circuit Judge Mark Gardner ruled that the Hornings don't hold "uncontrolled mass gathering" events and that the North Plains park has a "permanent structure."

Washington County officials approved the county's first mass-gathering ordinance in June. It applies to any event attracting more than 3,000 people and lasting more than 24 hours in unincorporated areas of the county. It essentially affected only Horning's Hideout.

Complaints by neighbors prompted the county Board of Commissioners to pass the ordinance to try to limit loud noise, overflowing crowds and heavy traffic at the park on Northwest Brunswick Canyon Road. The Hornings said they had addressed the problems and received other county permits and shouldn't have to apply for yet another permit.

"They're happy that the judge understood what the mass-gathering ordinance was directed at," said William Kabeiseman, an attorney for Bob and Jane Horning.

The county had little comment Monday. "Because we don't have a judgment or an order from the court yet, there's not too much I can share," said Philip Bransford, a county spokesman.

A final order is expected in coming weeks.

Izabella is for you. These guys possess the same fun and exciting sound that Cheese was producing at the beginning stages. Izabella is an incredible group of musicians and tremendous guys. I keep seeing posts about what are we going to do without Cheese and I've given my analysis. Cheese was one of my favorite bands for a long time- I always used to travel to see them. Now I travel to see Izabella EVERY night. I happen to work for them so it makes it easier, but I've chosen to travel with them for a reason.

We'll be in Seattle @ ToST on February 26th, Portland @ The Goodfoot on February 28th, Bend @ Old Stone Church on February 29th and then we head to Colorado for March 4th and 8th @ Dulcinea's in Denver, March 5th @ Hodi's Half Note in Fort Collins, March 6th @ Sherpa's in Breckenridge, March 7th @ Finnegan's Wake in Avon, and March 11th @ The Sandbar in Vail.

If you get a chance I can tell you it will be worth your while to check 'em out.

NOTE FROM HONKYTONK HOMESLICE:

Hello Friends,

We've just uploaded 3 new songs to our MySpace page, please stop by and take a listen!

http://www.myspace.com/honkytonkhomeslice

These songs are from the December 15th concert we played at the Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado and feature special guests Keith Moseley on electric bass & Christian Teele on drums. The show was professionally recorded on multi-tracking equipment, and we then chose these 3 songs to have professionally mixed so they sound their very best:

Black Clouds
Pieces Fall
Why You Been Gone So Long

If you enjoy them, please consider purchasing copies to download onto your MP3 players. We're independent music makers and YOUR purchases are what enables us to keep making music...

Many thanks for your support, we appreciate you!

So whats everyone doing to fight the Real ID the federal govt is imposing on us May 11, 2008? It is going to replace our drivers liscenses and will have all our info embedded on a RFID chip. Info will include, health history, driving record, social security number, political status, credit history, and much more. This will be required to drive, go to the bank, enter a federal building, board a plane, and even to go through check points throughout our country. If its time for people to speak out and get bitter, the time is now. Enough is enough. We are returning to Nazi fucking Germany here. So far in my state, Illinois, over 15 others, there has been rejection of it statewide. However, the federal government is enforcing implication of it,at the states' dissaproval. The states are being forced to foot the bill for this. If you enjoy increased risk of indentify theft, loss of privacy, and 11 billion wasted over 5 years to cover this, you will love it. Its time for us to band together and tell the government to fuck stick it, even if it means not driving, taking all our money out of the banks, and protesting. Seriously, does anyone else care about freedom enough to join together to fight this? Our constitution calls for civil disobedience in times like this, and its time we acted on it.

Peace,
Brett

It's amazing the inspiration and magic that has emanated out of the String Cheese Incident and their community of friends, fans, family over the years. In my eyes, one of the most creative co-conspiring crews that one could ever imagine. Everyday I feel some type of inspiration coming from our nucleus of energy. Today, I feel super lucky that I know so many of you. I truly look forward to our next show together. Let's keep manifesting new realities together and bringing this vision into fruition. Let's keep the Love flowing for their return

The weekend will feature sets by Trillian Green, the east coast jam band Telesma, the german darkwave band Qntal, the mythic music of Woodland, the renowned european band Estampie, and a big fat set on Saturday night by ZILLA!

Zilla will be one of the headliners on the evening themed as the Bad Faeries masquerade. In Philly last fall Bad Faeries night was packed and a very naughty and fun vibe. We hope you all come out and join in the mythical atmosphere as Michael Travis and Jamie Janover lift off...in the Faerie ring outside Eugene. There will be major multimedia performances throughout the weekend, fire shows, acrobats, sphere jugglers, and more. The epic UK artist Brian Froud will be host! Details are online at:

http://www.faerieworlds.com/

See you there!

I used to go to lots of shows back in 1999-2002 or so, from Hollywood to Hornings. Financial, medical, and parental issues have all combined forces to keep me home way more than I would like to. I miss seein' all my ol' Norcal_Etree buds at shows. How y'all doin'?
I miss String Cheese Incident!!!

EOTO Tour with special guest Kang here and there

EOTO Tour Announcement - Michael Travis and Jason Hann of String Cheese Incident‏
www.myspace.com/eotomusic

EOTO 2008 winter/spring tour (part 1)
Happy New Year everyone!!!

We decided to start out 2008 with a bang. After our 7-week-2-days-off tour of Fall 07, we were still revved up to play more shows. The music was inspired and we were psyched on the growing turnout - we even had our first lot scene in Buffalo. This of course led to the brilliant idea of doing an even longer tour with fewer days off to start the new year. The U.S. is a huge place and we want to get to everybody. That's why this first list of dates is only "part 1".

We're happy to be hitting up the Islands, beach towns, ski cities, and beautiful wooded areas of the West for the first section of the tour. Our schedule is at the end of this email.

Part 2 of our tour will start after the second round of Colorado shows in March. We'll take a 4 day break and then work our way down to Texas, head across the South, roll towards Florida, spend time working our way back up through the Northeast for a few weeks, get on over to the Mid-West by mid April, and finish up the tour on the by the first weekend of May in Omaha. Keep checking in to www.myspace.com/eotomusic for updates.

Spread the word and we look forward to seein' ya out there!

Travis and Hann

New EOTO CD - "Razed"

We've got a new CD coming out, to be officially released at our Los Angeles show on Feb 1. It's full of improvised Glitchiness, Breakbeat, Dub, and House grooves. Delicious new music for your spaceship.

Special Guests on this tour

We're happy to announce a few very special guests who are joining us on stage for parts of the tour.
Fellow bandmate from String Cheese Incident electric mandolin player, Michael Kang, will be joining us in Kaua'i. He'll also be with us in San Francisco at the Fillmore, where we will open up for New Monsoon.

Particle and Phil and Friends keyboardist, Steve Molitz, will also be joining us for 6 of our California shows, including our CD release party in Los Angeles.

Signal Path guitarist and drum n' bass producer, Ryan Burnett, a.k.a. EZKL, will be joining us for our Colorado run at the beginning of March

Conscious Alliance alliance
EOTO Biography

Jason Hann and Michael Travis (percussionist and drummer from the band The String Cheese Incident) make up this 100% improvised live Breakbeat/ House/ Drum n Bass/ Trip Hop project. Drawing from the ethos of some of the great DJ's and computer artists of the world, they use cutting edge technology to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment, with the undeniable power of live drums. The music is all created on the spot, recorded, then mixed and remixed LIVE to create an ever evolving musical experience. Since the project is 100% improvised, every night promises to be a unique dance experience. Hann and Travis play different roles in this band than in SCI. Jason plays the drum kit, percussion and sampler, while Travis is in charge of the tonal elements, playing bass, guitar, keyboards, as well as hand percussion and live mixing.

Michael Travis is a pioneer in the art of modern improvisational jam-rock drumming. He is especially known for his groundbreaking work on playing both hand drums and the drum kit simultaneously. As the drummer for the highly accomplished band, The String Cheese Incident, he has developed a unique style that is very supportive of a free jam aesthetic while still always laying it down. He further develops that approach in EOTO by being super solid to the point of emulating grooves that some of the best programmers and DJs would create, except with that elusive human feel. Travis has played along side some of the worlds greatest drummers while playing with String Cheese including Trilok Gurtu, Babatunde Olatunji, and Bill Kruetzman; & he has collaborated with many other artists including Keller Williams, Karl Denson, Steve Kimock, Warren Haynes, & Bela Fleck. With EOTO, he gets to stretch-out into brand-new territory; Handing over the rhythmic element to Jason, Trav is finally able to test out his melodic chops, playing the electric bass, electric guitar, keyboards, & samplers in addition to his EOTO mini-kit during the duo's spontaneous compositions.

Jason Hann is an accomplished composer/percussionist/ drummer who has been playing professionally since the age of 12. Growing up in Miami, Florida, he was exposed early to international music through his father, who is also a musician. Combined with his Colombian heritage through his mom, Jason grew up embracing rhythms from all parts of the globe. Music has taken him around the world, studying first hand in countries such as Mali, Ghana, Haiti, and Korea, both learning and performing folkloric and contemporary music of the land. A dynamic performer, Jason has also produced, composed, recorded, and toured internationally within many different genres of music including Rock, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop/Rap, Jazz, Latin, Latin-Jazz, Flamenco, African, Persian, Electronica, Techno, Brazilian, Indian and other fusions of World music. In addition to his current musical project EOTO, Jason has recently expressed his musical energy through The String Cheese Incident and each of his fellow band members' respective side-projects, through his solo electronica and all-percussion recordings, and through working with other artists such as Loreena McKinnet and Vinx . Jason continues to hit the road with legendary soul man Issac Hayes when possible. With a diverse background of musical collaborations that include Youssou N'Dour, Keller Williams, Rickie Lee Jones and Dr. Dre, it is evident that Jason will continue living in the musical moment for a long time to come.

Horning's weather the recent storm just fine!

Hi everyone, I've been getting some calls and emails wondering if the latest storm affected us. We had some high water in the lake, but other than that we're fine! We were prepared for the water based on lessons from the 1996 floods, with our main concern losing fish over the spill way. We have large nets in front of the spill way to prevent this, so even with high water we're set. The creek area is also fine, we've left most of that alone and natural throughout our history, so there's very little erosion, just normal stuff you'd see in a creek in the woods.

Out in the near-by town of Vernonia it's a different story. They were hit hard, harder than they've ever been and many lost everything. Tomorrow night, the 11th, between the hours of 6:30 PM and 9 PM the North Plains Chamber of Commerce (of which I'm President, simply my turn), is having a food, clothing, house hold and cleaning items drive during the North Plains Jingle (a Holiday festival). We're gathering at the Jessie Mays Center on Hillcrest. All donations will go to the people of Vernonia. For any cash donations there is also the Vernonia Flood Fund at any West Coast Bank.
Thanks!

Rebel Alliance Jam---Boulder, Co

Man...I miss you guys! I had a little slice of Cheese this Saturday night and man it was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!! (I want more!!!) I went to see The Rebel Alliance Jam this weekend at The Fox here in Boulder and what a treat. The art gallery that I work at ( goodthoughts4all.com ) had an art show for Scramble Campbell and Conscious Alliance before hand. It was super cold and snowy out. I thought for sure that it would impact the amount of people that made it out. It didn't---down front there was plenty of room (yahoo!) but it was packed! I got in there early for the DJ set (a nice boogie down warm up) and placed myself down front---strategically between Kyle's keys and Fareed Haque. Perfect!!! As usual the music was high energy and FUNKY. I counted 12 people on stage at the beginning. I forgot to count again once the show was underway (I was too busy dancing!). To my delight, Kang and Keith came out to join in on a super funky and joyful Sometimes a River...when the song was over and they were leaving the stage Kyle stood up and announced that he hadn't seen those guys in months and how great it was to play together...and Travis (oh, Travis) came out during set break w/ an acoustic guitar and a lady friend (Liza) and sang us a ballad. It was weird and slightly uncomfortable. The word on the street is that it was done on a $1,000 bet. I guess Travis won. Towards the end of the show Santa came on stage (Justin Baker is my guess) and danced around. Then a while later came back out (this time it was Kang in the red suit.) He looked like he was having so much fun. Once again I heard that the same guy had placed a bet with Kang to do this and he did! I feel like you don't see that too often---with all of the playing and singing and stuff---Kang looked like he didn't have a care in the world. He was smiling and getting down!! It was a great sight to see and a wonderful exchange of energy from everyone on stage to us in the crowd. It was great to see the boys out doing what they love to do. This weekend is 2 nights of Honkytonk Homeslice...a little Nershi action. I feel blessed to receive Cheese as a Christmas present this year. I wish that the benefit show was around the bend (man---THOSE are always great shows!!!) but I am lucky to get what I do!!! Thanks boys!!! See you soon!!!

I had a dream last night the boys were BACK!!!!!
The strange part was I was at a high school football game, they were getting out of their bus (the old one) and heading to the auditorium next to the football field where the show was to occur. They all walked down the (home team side) field first to a crowd of screaming football fans ( with tie dyed sports jerseys :)
Unfortunately the alarm clock went off before the music started.....

I miss this band

Hi all!!

I hope that you are as excited as I am about the upcoming Kyle Rebel Alliance Jam in Boulder at The Fox on Dec 8th!! I just wanted to put a bee in your bonnet and let you know that we will be hosting an art gallery exhibit w/ Conscious Alliance at Good Thoughts Printing Studio before-during set break- and after the show. We are located under Half Fast Subs in the building that was The Cellar one block North of The Fox. On top of Scramble's super groovy art we will also have our specialty---lenticular (3D) art for sale. Also any Conscious Alliance poster that you might have missed purchasing at a past event will be there for your shopping/viewing pleasure. For anyone who saw the 3D Conscious Alliance posters at Sea of Dreams last year, Horning's Hideout this year, and The SCI Red Rocks run this summer ---that's us!! So please come and check out what we have going on! It's some pretty amazing stuff and it makes a super unique and fun holiday present. Hoop to see you there!

I do sincerely apologize if you consider this spam. Feel free to send your mind if you must. However, no need to tell me not to do this anymore because it will be my last time.

No, this is not the NM list, but it is list for the jamband genre too. Don't you want to see one of our bands catch a break?

I'm not asking you to vote because you really like the music of NM. Its really a vote for jambands. The contest ends tomorrow and when I just checked, we were down by 150 votes.

Please vote if you have any time today or tomorrow. Each link lets you vote once each day.

As we enter this time of Thanksgiving, I have been thinking about the wonderful summer we lived in 2007. A SPECIAL thanks to everyone who attended the last two Red Rocks shows...I have never felt quite such a feeling of brotherhood...right up there with the best days of the Dead.....but even better because we were getting a chance to bid adieu...

Madison has a baby BROTHER!!!

Silas (no middle name yet)
11/17/07 8:37 am
8 lbs 13 oz.
22 inches

It was a total freight train labor, with water breaking and strong contractions to baby in just under 2 hours. Madison woke up about halfway through and helped massage my back and spray me with water. Our midwife arrived 10 minutes before he was born while I was already pushing. Madison was in the room when I pushed her baby brother out on hands and knees on our bedroom floor (covered with a tarp obviously). She is loving him so much and keeps going in to sneek peeks and kisses. He is nursing great and napping away! I will write a more complete birth story and post pics in a bit. I feel so blessed :)

Dear Friends

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Please check our photos made by Russell Roesner - our student.
